We have departed Iowa and traveled to South Dakota. We are staying in the Black Hills area, at the foot of Mount Rushmore. our journey took us all day and we drove through quite barren land. It was called the Badlands and it certainly lived up to it's name! We were a little concerned when we read the warning signs for snakes!
On the way there we stopped at a little town called Wall. The signs leading to this town, and it's main attraction - Wall Drug were many and varied. As a way of getting people to stop there they offered coffees for 5c and free iced water. However, the main aim was to get people to stop and spend money on the many tourist offerings!
Our motel is nice and the kids had a swim in the pool and enjoyed the spa.
